Detail of the upper panel of the central portion of the west front of Wells Cathedral (St Andrew's Church) begun c 1230. A figure of Christ in Majesty (flanked by six-winged angels) is at the top with St Andrew on the row below (taller figure at Christ's feet, sixth from R). With rows of nearly 400 statues it is the finest in England but was seriously mutilated in the time of Oliver Cromwell.
