FIFTH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Nov. 23, 2016) Seaman Cody Busby, assigned to the guided-missile destroyer USS Nitze (DDG 94), performs maintenance on a telescopic alidade. Busby serves onboard Nitze as a quartermaster and is responsible for assisting the officer of the deck, making celestial observations and plotting courses. Nitze, deployed as part of the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group, is supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the 5th Fleet area of operations.
