Moving the Circus of Nero obelisk. 16th Century artwork showing scaffolding around the obelisk in the Circus of Nero, Rome. The scaffolding is being used to support the obelisk as it is being lowered in order to move it to St Peter's Square. The Circus of Nero was a large open-air public venue in Ancient Rome. Published in 1590.
