Next, Drumcanal is being en-larged from a ca-pacity of 350 to one of 500 cubic feet persecond to accommodate the additional flow,and not only will the canal be enlarged but,also, the present timber flumes which havebeen in service for about thirteen years willbe replaced by permanent structures of con-crete and steel. Arriving at Drum forebay,the improvement work here consists of asecond penstock laid from the forebay toDrum power-house. The lower portion ofthis penstock, reaching from the top of theslope to the power-house, is already inplace. This new penstock differs in con-struction from the other in that it is builtoff the ground on concrete piers, a similarcharacter of construction to that at Pit development.
