A Air Force C-130 Hercules with the 61st Airlift Squadron comes in for a landing at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, California, during a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System rapid infiltration exercise Feb. 18, 2021. While the air station is primarily a rotary wing air base, with its 6,000-foot runway it has the capability to support larger aircraft such as C-5 Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster III. Having this capability gives commanders of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton’s tenant units the flexibility to schedule strategic lift training and deployments directly from Camp Pendleton.
