Proportions of the human face. 16th-century diagram illustrating the relative proportions of the human head and face seen in profile, from 'On the Divine Proportion' (1509) by Italian mathematician Luca Pacioli (). This book was about mathematical proportions such as the 'golden ratio', the divine proportion referred to in the title. The book popularised geometry. It included artworks and diagrams by Pacioli's friend the artist and architect Leonardo da Vinci. For a more detailed version of this diagram, see image C029/1034.
