Mary Wollstonecraft, 1759 – 1797. English author and philosopher. Wollstonecraft was an advocate of women's rights. She was the mother of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, author of Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus. After a 1796 engraving by William Ridley.
