In December of 1991 the Soviet Union would cease to exist and the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic would become the Ukraine. In 2015 the independent Ukrainian Parliament would pass legislation banning symbols of “Communist and National Socialist Totalitarian Regimes.” Originally a color image.
