As is often the case in a small place like this, cut off from therest of the world, we find here a simple, kind-hearted, earnest people,giving liberally from their limited means. They have a very good churclibuilding, which was not destroyed during the massacres. Their pastor is. There are schools for boys and girls,and I hope to inclose in this a letter from the girl teacher. This morningI had a meeting in her school. She has about thirty-five scholars. Theywere very quiet and attentive. Since I began this letter I have been in tolisten to the recitations, and was pleased with the general conduct of theschool. The} have a good large schoolroom adjoining the parsonage, andthe pastor is going to try to have a kindergarten here.
