Senator Ted Cruz and Maj. Gen. John Nichols, Texas Adjutant General, met with members of the Texas Army Guard as well as members of the North and South Carolina Army Guard Sep. 1, 2017 at Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base in Houston, Texas. The Guardsmen have been conducting search and revcovery operations with UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
