Of medium size, roundish ovate. Skin reddish striped or splashed with dull deep red in the sun. Flesh whitish, sometimes stained with red, tender, subacid, with a very pleasant flavor. Tree very hardy, a rapid grower and good bearer, but not remarkable for longevity. August and Bellflower. Bellfloweb, Yellow. A large, handsome, well known winter apple, of superior quality, oblong, rather irregular, yellow, with a blush cheek next the sun ; the flesh tender, juicy, and crisp, with a sprightly, pleasant acid flavor. The tree is hardy, of vigorous.
