Nasturtium is one of the items on which the American seed trade is likely soon to become self-reliant. The growing season is late practically everywhere, but most seed crops look fairly well and promise at least moder- ately well. The Chicago onion set crop looks fa- vorable at the present time, although still a little backward. With good weather from now on a fair crop is expected. How long will the supply of valley pips last? In spite of decreased use of cut valley this season, most forcers are within sight of the end of their resources. The large attendance at last month's seed trade convention was the result of many houses sending an unusual number of representatives. Several members wore represented by three or four men, while one of the concerns seeking seedsmen's patronage had as many as seven solicitors. The California growers say the hot weather recently experienced has had a further unfavorable effect on the radish crop. With reduced imports from France, it looks as though a surplus of radish will be good property next season.
