A Saxon ivory desk set decorated with mining scenes, 19th century. Large four-piece bowl with finely engraved coat of arms of Saxony flanked by two miners in dress uniform. In the centre the three-dimensionally carved figure of Augustus II the Strong as patron of miners, holding a miner's axe in his right hand. Finely carved sand shaker and ink well. On the lids crossed miner's axes, the four sides decorated with finely carved mining scenes. x cm, height of figure 12 cm.
