Although the west Mexican archeological picture is taking form,central Mexican ties are, on the whole, tenuous. Curiously enough,it would appear that the earliest horizons recognized to date in thewest equate with Teotihuacan III (ca. 800). This is far toolate for the west Mexican cultures to have played a very significantformative role in the development of the American Southwest Plate io Upper: Mountains in the Department of Morazon, El Salvador.
