The Willamette Falls on the Willamette river are located near Oregon City. They are the second largest falls in the United States. A hydro-power plant was built there between 1888 and 1895 part of which is still operating today. A canal and locks provided boat passage around the falls until 2011 when the locks were closed. This site has hosted a paper mill since 1866.
