This past fall, Owen led 41st EN Soldiers, with assistance from the American Legion Riders, during a volunteer project to clean and maintain the cemetery. Mendelson, a college freshman, helped organize the event as a community service project during her senior year in high school, with help from Shari Simmons, who donated the wreaths from Simmons Farm in Copenhagen.
