( × cm), Textiles-Costumes, This luxurious and rare woman’s propaganda kimono appears to have been custom-made by a couture designer for a wealthy patron. The elegant black silk robe has abstract vignettes woven with gold thread and colored yarns (kasuri, an ikat technique that employs a resist-dyeing process on the yarns) of the Hinomaru (Rising Sun) flag of Japan, fighter planes, bombers, the crenellations of the Great Wall of China, and barbed wire on wood x-frames
