ARLINGTON, Va. – The new eternal flame burner assembly sits dormant at its permanent location Oct. 1, 2013, ready for contractors to make the final gas line and control connections. Contractors, overseen by the Norfolk District, Army Corps of Engineers, worked over the summer to upgrade the flame, installing a new burner, igniter, gas, and air lines as well as new safety controls and sensors.
