The struc-tures which are contained within the basement mem-brane—namely, the lacteal vessel, the muscular tissue,and the blood-vessels—are surrounded and enclosed by adelicate network of tissues. It appears from the structure of these villi that thelonger and better we masticate our food, the easier it will beconverted into chyle and the more of its nourishing ingre-dients can be absorbed by the lacteals.
