Mr. Davis states that he experimented several years in trying to get an improved strain of Cu- cumber for forcing under glass and outside culture, and has finally fixed a 'â 'â Perfect" type, combining quality, shape, color and productiveness. The Cucumbers grow long and slim, sometimes measure 12 inches in length; the color is a rich, dark, glossy green, which they hold until nearly ripe, when they turn white without a sign of yellow. This beautiful Egg-Plant is a great improvement over the well-known and largely-grown Xew York Improved Large Purple. The plants are remarkably healthy in their growth, and produce an abundance of large fruits fully ten days earlier than the Xew York Improved. The skin is of a rich purplish-black color, making the fruit very attractive in appearance. It is also entirely spineless. The quality is all that could be desired.
