He has served, in a ministry of 23 j^ears, seven churches aspastor; among them Eoanoke and Huntsville 3 years each, 5 years, Mt. Pitts is generous, kind, hospitable, and one of themost liberal pastors we have ever met; and the fruit of his spiritmay be seen in the life of his people. George W. Eobey—was born May 27, 1838, in Marion Co., the age of 14 years he was converted, and three years afterwas baptized by Eev. Nathan Ayres. When 18 years old he waslicensed to preach the gospel, and entered Bethel College, Pal-myra, where, after four years, he graduated in 1860. He was or-dained and became pastor of Little Union Church in 1859. From1860 to 1867 he preached as pastor to the last named church, andalso to Philadelphia,Bethel and EmersonChurches, in MarionCounty; and Newarkin Knox County. Healso labored as mis-sionary of Bethel As-sociation, save oneyear—1865—which hespent in Indiana,preaching for twocountry churches. In 1863 he was mar-ried to Miss RebeccaJ.
