A German wheellock "Stutzen" (short rifle), 1st half of the 17th century. Slender octagonal barrel with an eight groove rifled bore in mm calibre. Finely engraved with birds and female figures amid decorative arabesques on top of the barrel. Dovetailed sights. The lock has an exterior wheel. Parts of the action and some of the screws are replacements. Ebonized fruitwood full stock richly inlaid with silver wire and oval silver plates. Patch box, silver furniture.
