Expugnation of Lagny. On September 7, 1590, troops led by Alexander Farnese assaulted by surprise the fortress of Lagny, on the banks of the Marne River. The soldiers took advantage of a breach in the old wall to take the city. Farnese, in a quick maneuver, sent a large number of barges loaded with provisioning supplies to Paris. Engraving, detail. Wars of Flanders. Edition published in Antwerp, 1748.
