Maidenhead, Berkshire, UK. 4th July, 2024. Weeds were being removed from the waterways in Maidenhead, Berkshire this morning. The Friends of Maidenhead Waterways had accused the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead of 'abandoning' its commitments to the waterways "after a maintenance request for the annual excess weed clearance was rejected by them. The council has now 'reversed' its decision" and the important weed cutting has commenced. Credit: Maureen McLean/Alamy
