Hazeley Heath is a surviving vestige of a once sprawling lowland heathland of south England. Hazeley Heath is one of the best places for wildlife in the UK. Hazeley Heath, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and forms part of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area, an international designation. The site is predominantly lowland heathland but also includes areas of woodland, a habitat in decline. The heath supports UK BAP Priority species and surveys in the area have identified over 45 BAP and Nationally Notable species .
