A practical handbook on the distillation of alcohol from farm products, including the processes of malting : mashing and mascerating : fermenting and distilling alcohol from grain, beets, potatoes, molasses, etc., with chapters of alcoholometry and the denaturing of alcohol ... . pipe E to the second columnB wherein the last runnings or amy lie oils, etc., areseparated from the purified spirits. The vapors in this column are carried to thecondensers D and F and from there to a refrigeratorG. The fusel oils are extracted from the platesslightly below the center of the column and arecarried to an oil concentrating apparatus H. In the most complete forms of apparatus usedto-day, there is a variation of this first runnings, middle runnings and the lastrunnings are each led off from the main columnto separate coolers, condensers, etc., and the puri-fied result from each of these columns is in turnled to a trunk rectifier common to all where theproduct is redistilled and entirely freed from im-purities. This gives a very high grade of alcoholby a process practically continuous. At the sametime the impurities are not returned to the firstor main column to contaminate the vapors thereinand add to the amount of fusel oils contained on RECTIFICATION. 97. In construction of this characterthere is a very large saving in the cost of the fueland the result is much better in every way.
