Filey Coble Landing is a cobbled slipway at the northern end of Filey seafront. It is home to several fishing cobles and a number of private leisure craft. The Landing is fronted on the landward side with an RNLI Station and various retail outlets, cafés and amusement arcades and is consequently a popular tourist attraction as well as a designated fishing harbour. Vessels are launched across the beach to the sea, tractors are used for the heavier fishing vessels. The Landing is open to non-berth holders for the launching of craft. The Landing is operated by staff from Scarborough Harbour Office where any queries should be directed. The Victorian seaside town of Filey is the most southerly of the three ports. This beautiful town is perfect for those seeking an active holiday, or for those who just prefer to relax and get away from it all. The five-mile stretch of beach is punctuated by Filey Brigg, a rocky outcrop popular with tourists due to the variety of birds and wildlife that can be found there. Many activities are available including surfing, fishing, yachting, golf and bird watching. The town has a colourful history stretching back 1200 years to its origins as a remote fishing and farming community, through to the tourist boom of the 19th century. You can learn more about the town’s history by visiting the local museum. Each year Filey hosts an Edwardian Festival. The festival has grown in popularity since it began some 25 years ago, with visitors returning year after year to enjoy the live music, dance and crafts on offer.
