Knee arthroscopy. Orthopaedic surgeon inserting an arthroscope into a patient's knee joint during surgery. The arthroscope contains optic fibres that are transmitting an image of the knee joint through a small camera to a television monitor (watched by the surgeon and theatre nurse). This procedure allows diagnosis of knee problems. During the procedure, the surgeon may also remove or repair damaged tissues (biopsy).
