A heavy military sword from Solingen,around 1630 A wide double-edged blade with double fullers on the upper third of both sides inscribed "MEFECIT SOLINGEN". The ricasso has two grooves and marks stamped on either side. There are S-shaped curved quillons,a large,shell-shaped guard plate,and an obverse side languet with a thumb ring. Original grip with iron wire winding and Turk's heads. Pear shaped pommel lightly ridged on the sides. Original(?)black leather scabbard with iron mountings.
