A cityscape of abandoned old luxury beach resort complex in the Northen Cyprus

Varosha is located in the southern quarter of former Famagusta, in Northen Cyprus. In the early 1970s, Famagusta was the number-one tourist destination in Cyprus because of beautiful coast line and a luxury resort. In 1975 Turkey invaded the island and as a result of it Cyprus was divided into two parts and as a result of this Famagusta belongs today to the Northen Cyprus (under Turkish Cypriots rule). In July 2021 the area, formerly kept as a military zone for decades, was reopened for the civilians. We went there yesterday to see how in the absence of human habitation and maintenance, buildings continue to decay. Skeletons of the buildings shown in the picture are non-entry zone and remains under military control.
