A group of sea lions sunbathing and resting on rocks at Los Islotes, north of Isla Espiritu Santo, in the Sea of Cortez / Sea of Cortes off the coast of Baja Sur, Mexico. One sea lion appears to be smiling, her fin resting on another with affection. The sea lion colony at Los Islotes can be visited on a day boat trip from La Paz, Mexico, and many visitors take a tour to snorkel with the mother sea lions and their babies. Some of these boat trips from La Paz combine swimming with a whale shark and visiting the Sea Lions in winter months. The sea lion colony at Los Islotes is part of a protected UNESCO biosphere.
