Ensign Hoopes was appointed Radio Officer at Air Sta-tion, Chatham, Mass., and has served there from June 17, 1918,to the present time. At last accounts he was still in Service. [ 346 ]. He was educated at theClassical High School, Lynn, and at the Northeastern College,Boston. He enlisted in the at Boston, in April, 1917, and re-ported July, 1917, at the for ground training, being a mem-ber of Flight A. He had flight training at Pensacola, Fla., fromSept., 1917; and was commissioned Ensign in Dec, 1917. He wasordered overseas for active duty in Jan., 1918, and was in specialservice in England, Ireland, Scotland, and France, instructing andtesting at various stations, and doing much patrol flying in searchof enemy submarines and aircraft. In Oct., 1918, he was com-missioned Lieut, (). After the Armistice, Lieut.
