Nara plant (Acanthosicyos horrida) flower. This leafless plant is a dioecious perennial cucurbit that grows in desert regions, using its deep roots to reach water. It is widely used by the local Topnaar people, who eat its fruit and seeds, which develop from the flowers. Photographed in Namibia.
