Here the inside of the Tactical Table, on which the games are played, is shown. Officers taking the course each work at a plotting table which represents the bridge of an escort vessel. The Wren Officer on the left, 2nd Officer Laidlaw, is ready to go out to the players of whom she is in charge to inform them what has happened in the previous move. The Wren in the background is ready to alter the game time in order that the game advances. The single figure under the time announces that the "next move will be four minutes". The Wren on the right has just finished plotting, and is picking up her gear in order that the scene is ready for viewing by the groups as soon as the time is announced. Mr Rayner, Signals Officer on the Staff of the Unit, is showing an important policy signal to the Director which may alter the plans of one of the groups. Each group is handled by a staff of 3, and the Staff for only one syndicate is shown. There are three syndicates playing Royal Navy, Western Approaches Tactical Unit
