This cannot be done withtlie factory hives, for they are made so matfoundation must be The construction of my frame is an oldidea. A %-square bar is used, set into thehive, corner down. The ends are cut out onthe bottom side to the center of the bar,and the side pieces are nailed on to theshoulder thus formed. Tlie ends of the barrest in the rabbet in the usual manner. So fastened, thesheet never comes loose. If I have no foun-dation I just fill a hive with empty framesand put in the bees.
