James Smith with the Joint Forces Command's Joint Fires Integration and Interoperability team installs an extended range data antenna on the observation point two tower on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. Once installed the antenna will extend the computer network used by and coalition military forward air controllers participating in the Bold Quest 2009 demonstration. Bold Quest 2009 is an Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration that brings together nearly 1,000 professional warfighters and contractors from 11 countries and across the military to test in a field environment the technologies designed to eliminated fratricide on the battlefield and refine the emerging technology behind Digitally Aided Close Air Support. This year's Quest event is held at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, and will utilize the bases 160,000 square acres of live fire ranges, tactical landing zones and instrumented evaluation areas to test and evaluate combat identification interoperability between the military services and our allies.
