The wearing of veils and gloves to shield from the sunlight, and the appli-cation of soothing ointments to make the skin supple, are the only preventivemeasures available. When malignant disease develops, an operation shouldbe performed early. SARCOMA OF THE SKIN. Sarcomas are malignant tumors of the connective-tissue type. The tissuein them is embryonic and has a tendency to indefinite growth, but the rate ofgrowth, and therefore the malignancy, differ widely in different , for instance, it will form a sharply defined tumor of slow growththat when cut out does not return even locally, and has therefore not the malig-voL.
