Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve is an internationally important wetland and wildlife area. It is great for spotting resident and migrating birds. The views are beautiful and peaceful: we can see the farm fields, cops and ancient woodlands contrasting with the salt marshes, lagoons and mudflats. There are sweeps of reed beds providing shelter, nesting places and food along the drainage channels or Rifes coming from inland. Visitors, mainly from the nearby camping site and locals enjoy the walks spotting birds, stunning views and the fresh air. The area is not without its own problems: the coastal erosion and the discharge of sewage. And then of course is the pressure of the ever-increasing urbanisation. This image is one of several I have taken depicting the farmland, reed beds and Rifes on one side, the lagoons, mudflats and saltmarsh on the other side and the North Walk footpath in between.
