At its eastern extremity, Castle Street is faced by a Salva-tion Arm}- Citadel, a pile quite in harmony with the statelyblocks close by. The castellated turret commands wideviews. To the right, at the Citadel, is Castle Terrace, to the leftJustice Street. On the former stood the Futtie Port, one ofsix gates which formerly helped to protect citizens fromhostile incursions ; it owed its name to its being on the wayto Footdee, formerly a detached fishing village known asFuttie.
