Saint Margaret’s Scottish Episcopal Church stands on the main A93 road as it passes through the village of Braemar in Aberdeenshire. The church is one of the most important works in the career of Sir John Ninian Comper. It was built in three phases between 1899 and 1904. The design is a revival of a Scots Late Gothic revival church with a nave, chancel and chapel around a squat central tower. It is incomplete - an intended north chapel or transept and a spire have not been built. The church measures 36m long by 16m wide. It is constructed of granite walls with sandstone dressings at the windows and buttresses and has a stone slate roof. The building is listed Category A. The church ceased to be used in 1990 and is now semi-derelict.
