Super-Earth extrasolar planet seen from the surface of its moon, artwork. Its parent red dwarf star is at lower centre, being transited by an inner planet. A super-Earth is an extrasolar planet with a mass higher than Earth's, but substantially below the mass of the Solar System's gas giants Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. This planet has oceans, and an atmosphere that can support clouds. Earth-like planets capable of supporting life are found only in a star's habitable zone, a region around a star where the surface temperature of a planet is suitable for liquid water.
