Place a jar in a basin of boiling water. Melt anounce each of white wax and spermaceti, flour ofbenzoin fifteen grains, and half an ounce of oil ofalmonds. Stir until the mixture is cold, and color redwith a little alkanet root. RE MED T FOR CHAPPED LIPS. Melt in a glass vessel, and stir with a wooden spoonone ounce of white wax, four ounces of oil of roses,and one-half ounce of spermaceti. Pour into a glass orchina cup. Add ten drops of carbolic acid to oneounce of glycerine, and apply freely at TOILET RECIPES. 405 LOTION TO REMOVE FRECKLES. Dissolve three grains of borax in five drams of rosewater, and orange flower water. A very simple andharmless remedy is equal parts of pure glycerine androse water, applied every night and allowed to dry. TO REMOVE SUNBURN. A good article to remove sunburn is made by pour-ing a quart of boiling water upon a handful of bran,letting it stand an hour and then strain. Put it in apint of bay rum when cold, and wash the face with itthree times every day. Milk of almonds is recommended as a good remedy. One pound of ox gall, two drams of borax, onedram of camphor, one dram of alum, and half anounce of sugar candy, mixed and stirred well forten minutes, and strained through blotting paper whentransparent, is also recommended. Bottle for use andstir several times a fortnight. TAN One-half pint of new milk, one-half ounce of whitebrandy, and one-fourth ounce of lemon juice boiledtogether, skimmed clean
