Passengers from the Aussie expedition cruiser Orion make a call at Savo, Solomon Islands, South Pacific


Savo Island is a rugged volcanic island just of the coast of Guadalcanal important for its WWII history and for being home to a large colony of megapodes or Melanesian scrubfowl. Passengers from the Aussie expedition cruiser Orion made an early morning call at Savo to have a look at the birds and their eggs (highly valued by islanders for food) which are buried in the sand to incubate, Savo, Solomon Islands.
