An Ottoman silver-mounted kilij, 17th/19th centuries Curved single-edged blade (1st half of the 17th century) of beautifully figured wootz-Damascus with a broadened, double-edged point. The obverse side bears a long inscription from the Koran, inlaid in gold, surrounded by the "Basmala" (first verse of the Koran), and followed by two inscription cartouches and the signature, "Haji Sungar's work". Silver quillons and grip frame with riveted rhinoceros horn grip scales.
