Magdalena Moons, 1541-1613. Heroine of the Dutch Revolt against Spanish rule. She promised to marry Francisco de Valdez, the Spanish commander, if he would delay his attack on Leiden. She convinced him, which gave time for Dutch forces to reach the city.
