Spanish chronicler Antonio Herrera’s Historia general de los hechos de los castellanos en las islas y tierra firme del mar océano (General History of the Deeds of the Castillians on the Islands and Mainland of the Ocean Sea Known as the West Indies) was first published in 1615. This four-volume history of the Americas also known as Décadas, is a descriptive narration of events based on the experience of the Spanish conquistadors. The history is divided into eight decades, each of which is introduced by a unique, engraved title page.
