Greater Stitchwort (Stellaria holostea) a native wildflower in Britain growing in a hedgerow.


Greater Stitchwort is widespread in England and can be found growing in woods, verges, hedgerows and grassy banks. It has many other common names including Wedding Cakes, Star-of-Bethlehem, Daddy's-shirt-buttons and Snapdragon. It has small star-shaped, white flowers which bloom from April to June. When the seed capsules ripen, they can be heard popping in late spring
