A very large purple Plum, so attractive in its appearance as to be a fine market sort, and apparently well adapted for general cultivation over a wide area. The tree is not a strong grower, and does not come into bearing early, a fact that is generally to be regretted. Guii. Dark. First to middle of September. Fruit very large, deep bluish purple, covered with thick bloom. Flesh yellowish green, sweet and pleasant. Tree a great and very young bearer, hardy and a strong, rapid grower ; gen- erally regarded as of great value for market by the Plum growers along the Hudson river. Or- igin, Lansingburg, N. Y. Hudson River Purple Egg. Purple. Middle of September. Highly esteemed by growers along the Hudson river. Described as one of the richest and finest flavored Plums we have. Stone free. Fruit good size, resembles the German Prune, but a little larger, with a nice bloom. Good bearer. Tree bears young. Imperial Gage. Green and yellow. Last of August. One of the most productive. Fruit rather large, oval. Surface green, slightly tinged yellow, with marbled green stripes. Flesh greenish, juicy, melting, rich, sometimes adhering, but usually free from the stone. A strong, vigorous grower, very productive. Italian Prune.
