He wasadvanced, through successive stages ofdraughtsman and general foreman at othershops of the division, to the position of assist-ant master mechanic of the Meadows shops,during twelve years of service. In 1890 heaccepted the position of master mechanic ofthe Central of Georgia Railway at Savannah,Ga., where he remained for a year and ahalf, and then took a position, in 1893, withthe Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Rail-way Co., as chief draughtsman of the cardepartment. He was subsequently advanced 296 THE STEVENS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY to general foreman of car shops at two dif-ferent points, and is now general foreman of. in charge of the designing and constructionfor W. Noble Dickerson, Jr., & Co., manu-facturers of electric power machinery, NewYork, 1900-01; assistant master mechanic atthe Passaic Print Works, 1901-02, duringwhich period he designed and drew plans fora one-story bleach-house 295 X 70 feet, atwo-story white room 175 X 50 feet, anda six-story storehouse 250 X 120 feet. Healso assisted in installing a gravity water-filter plant of 4,000,000 gallons daily capac-ity, and the engines, generators, and motorsfor a 750-kilowatt three-phase electric July, 1902, he was advanced to the posi-tion of master mechanic, having charge ofgeneral maintenance and repair of machin-ery and buildings of a plant having 3,000boiler horse-power and three and a half acresof floor space devoted to the manufacture ofpr
