November 10th, 2010, just before COP15 started in December, 2 super sea windmills at the DONG-Energy site at Avedore (Avedøre) near Copenhagen, was inagurated. DONG-Energy sells ownership of one of the windmills to a local windmill association on 7000 shares, as local support and motivation is important in order to achive a future with sustainable enegry sources. The third and last windmill will be owned by world famous Tivoli (Copenhagen) and will be the first amusement park in the world to be powered by sustainable energy. The windmills are 151,5 meter high and the wings spans a diameter of 120 meter, to the total cost of 185 mio. DKK for all 3 mills. They are among the biggest operating windmills in the world. The 3 windmills replaces 13 old mills from 2001, which was taken down. Danish DONG Energy has entered an agreement with Siemens Wind Power for a total of 500 windmills like and explains that these first 3 mills are test installations. The windmills are off shore, but installed just a few meter out on the sea. The third mill will be installed about 100 meter from the shore.
